Walter Glass

Professor of P.E.

In 1972, Walter Glass was professor of physical education at Pepperdine. Glass and his wife Betty were among the earliest Pepperdiners to move to Malibu ahead of the opening of the campus in September 1972.1 They lived off Trancas Canyon, near Howard and Maxcine White.

During the construction of the Malibu campus, Glass raised and lowered the American flag that flew on the 100-foot flagpole below today's Brock House.2 The Glasses were good friends with the Banowskys, and they were among the founding members of the Church of Christ of Malibu, the congregation now known as the University Church of Christ.

Glass died in 2022 during the writing of Quinquagenary.
